The movie Grind - Sex, Boards & Rock'n'Roll is an American comedy from 2003 . It's about the four ambitious young amateur skaters, Eric Rivers, Dustin Knight, Matt Jensen and Sweet Lou Singer, who are trying to be discovered by the skater legend Jimmy Wilson.

action

After graduating from high school, most can't wait to get into college. But not the skateboarder Eric Rivers. He wants to be discovered by the skateboard world in order to be able to make a living from it. So he and his two skater friends, the workaholic Dustin and the outsider Matt, plan to be discovered by the skater legend Jimmy Wilson. When he stops in their city on his tour to present his skater show, they don't get the chance to prove how good they are.

They then set up a team of four, which the womanizer Sweet Lou joins to follow Jimmy's national tour. They want to convince Jimmy that they have what it takes to be professional skaters. The way leads them from Chi-Town to Santa Monica, where they experience the trip of a lifetime.

Appearances by well-known personalities

The MTV actor Bam Margera , who is also active as a skateboarder, plays himself in several scenes. The skateboarding events in the film also feature professional skaters Kareem Campbell and Bucky Lasek .

criticism

The reviews were mostly negative. The lexicon of international films describes the director's first film as an “unimaginative teenage comedy bursting with clichés and filthy gags, which is not even more appealing thanks to the skate sequences.” Cinema magazine writes: “Not an exciting, but well-made teenage comedy with sporty insoles. "

The US reviews were also consistently negative. Brian Webster of the Apollo Movie Guide sees the film as "a boring, sloppy production." Stephen Holden of the New York Times complains that the film has "no story" and only "stereotypical roles," said Claudia Puig of "USA Today", The film produced no laughs due to "the abundance of tasteless humor." Only Kevin Crust of the Los Angeles Times could still get something positive out of the film. The film has "enough honest moments", but is "not funny enough."
