Richard Crudo (born 1957 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American cameraman .

Life

Crudo studied history at St. John's University in New York and completed the Film Arts Program at Columbia University . In 1981 he finished his education.

In the 1980s, Crudo worked as a camera assistant with cameramen such as Michael Chapman and Gordon Willis . Since then he has also worked occasionally as a camera operator for film and television. In 1989 he made his first appearance as head cameraman with the thriller Title Shot .

In 2009, Crudo made his directorial debut with the horror film Against the Dark . Steven Seagal played the leading role in this direct-to-DVD production . Crudo had previously worked as a cameraman on two Seagal films. His second film followed in 2012 with Dirty People . With this he was also active as a producer and screenwriter for the first time.

He was the President of the American Society of Cinematographers from 2003 to 2006 and 2013 to 2016 .
