Reviews

Mick LaSalle wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle of July 13, 2007 that it was easy to capture the essence of Manhattan . This is more difficult in a “ provincial ” district of New York - Brooklyn Rules is on the short list of films that have made it. It is an entertaining film that is sincere to its world (“ entertaining film that's true to its world ”).

Desson Thomson wrote in the Washington Post on June 22, 2007 that the film would appear familiar to viewers familiar with the television series The Sopranos and Martin Scorsese's Mafia films, such as GoodFellas, Three Decades in the Mafia . The plot contains clichés and is " too predictable ", but the film still remains " surprisingly viewable ".

background

The film was shot in New York City and Toronto . Its production amounted to an estimated 8 million US dollars . The film had its world premiere on May 17, 2007 at the Cannes International Film Festival . It has been shown in selected cinemas in the United States since May 18, 2007, and grossed around 398 thousand US dollars.
