Scott Andrew Caan (born August 23, 1976 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor.

Life

Scott Caan is the son of actor James Caan and Sheila Ryan, a former model and actress. His paternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Germany. His parents divorced a year after he was born. He has four half-siblings from another marriage and previous relationships with his father.

In July 2014, Caan and his significant other became parents to a daughter.

Caan worked as a roadie for bands like Cypress Hill and House of Pain and was a member of the hip-hop band The Whooliganz along with Mudfoot (real name: Alan Maman - now known as the producer The Alchemist ).

Career

Caan began acting in the late 1990s, mostly starring in independent and low budget films . He made his first appearance in a better-known film in 1998 in Der Staatsfeind Nr. 1 , in which he played an NSA agent. He then appeared in a number of films, including Ready to Rumble and American Outlaws , in which he starred with Colin Farrell .

In 2003 Caan made his directorial debut with the comedy film Dallas 362 . He also wrote the script and took on the lead role. The film won the Critics' Prize at the CineVegas International Film Festival that same year . Another directorial work Caan delivered in 2006 with the comedy The Dog Problem , in which he also took part again. In 2009 he wrote the script for the love drama Mercy and took on the male lead. James Caan appeared in a supporting role as his father in the film.

In addition to low-budget films, Caan also starred in large-scale productions such as Der Staatsfeind Nr. 1 , Nur 60 seconds and in the Ocean's Eleven trilogy. In 2005 he starred in the action film Into the Blue at the side of Paul Walker , with whom he had already appeared in Varsity Blues . After this success Caan was hired for film projects such as Friends with Money , Lonely Hearts Killers and Brooklyn Rules as a supporting actor. While the box office results for these films were below expectations, they earned Caan some positive reviews.

In the final seasons of the series Entourage , Caan played a regular supporting role as Eric's business partner Scott Lavin .

In Hawaii Five-0 , the remake of Hawaii Five-Zero , Caan stars as Danny "Danno" Williams . His performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2011 . Two years later he was nominated for the 2013 Teen Choice Awards in the TV Actor: Action category. In the episode "Fireworks" of the Hawaii Five-0 series, his father James Caan has a guest appearance.

In January 2014, the Lord Steppington titled collaboration album by rappers The Alchemist and Evidence was released . Caan wrote and rapped a verse for the song Byron G.

Caan also works as a photographer. In 2009 his photo book Scott Caan Photographs, Vol. 1 was published . In October 2014, a second volume of Caan's photographs was published under the title Vanity .

In 2012 Scott Caan published the self-written plays Two Wrongs and No Way Around But Through . In 2015 he published The Performance of Heartbreak , the book contains several of his pieces.
