Johann Christian von Brandeis
Johann Christian von Brandeis (* 1687 in Hanover ; † 1759 in Liegnitz , Silesia) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the Füselier regiment No. 38 . He comes from a middle class family from Hanover and was only in the nobility raised .
Life
In 1702 he came to Regiment No. 17 (Grumkow). There he was appointed second lieutenant on July 16, 1717. He rose further and in September 1743 even became a colonel as a major in Infantry Regiment No. 17 (de la Motte). In the Second Silesian War he received a grenadier battalion, which consisted of two grenadier companies from regiments No. 28 (Hautechamony) and No. 38 (Jung-Dohna). With them he covered the Prussian withdrawal from Prague. On December 1, 1745, he occupied the small town of Gruben, captured some Uhlans and captured the magazines. In September 1747 he received the Pour le Mérite during an inspection by the king and in November 1748 he was appointed major general. Thereupon he received the Regiment No. 38 (Dohna) in August 1749 . In May 1757 he was appointed lieutenant general. In December of the year 1758 he got his departure at his own request . He died in Liegnitz in 1759.
During the War of the Spanish Succession he fought in the battles of Ramillies , Oudenarde , Wijnendale , Hunslott and in the storming of Bouchain , as well as in the sieges of Menin , Mons , Saint-Venant and during the Pomeranian campaign in the siege of Stralsund .
