Johann Ehrenfried Zschackwitz

Johann Ehrenfried Zschackwitz also Zschackwiz (born July 25, 1669 in Kösen , † October 28, 1744 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German historian and heraldist .

Life

After attending the Stiftsgymnasium in Zeitz , he studied in Leipzig from 1688 to 1691 . The subjects of study were theology , law and history . From 1693 to 1697 he was in the service of the Duke of Saxe-Gotha . Here as quartermaster in the cuirassier regiment . He then took up his work as secretary to the governor of the Electorate of Saxony in Dresden and was also in the service of Marshal von Biberstein in diplomatic matters. From 1705 his writing began in Leipzig. In 1711 he moved to Eisenach to work as an archive secretary. He worked as a professor in Coburg and then in Hildburghausen . Fled to Halle because he had fallen out of favor, he was only an associate professor from 1731 and a full professor for the so-called imperial history and law from 1738.

Johann Ehrenfried Zschackwitz died on October 28, 1744, at the age of 75, in Halle. He was buried on October 29, 1744 in Halle's Stadtgottesacker , his grave is in crypt arch 6.
