Johann Ernst Döring
Johann Ernst Döring (born January 5, 1704 in Voigtstedt (?); † July 17, 1787 in Ostheim ) was a German organ builder .
Life and works
JE Döring learned the trade of organ builder in Erfurt and Römhild , before settling down as a privileged Saxon organ builder in Ostheim after a few years of traveling . As early as 1737, the city commissioned him to build a new organ for St. Michael's Church. This instrument is still preserved today as a baroque organ, even though it was rebuilt in 1847 by Johann Georg Markert II . As a result, he built other organs for churches in the area, 17 can be traced back to him. Among other things, he delivered to Bettenhausen ( Church of the Holy Cross ), Völkershausen , Unterweid (1748, ev. St. Marien Church) and Oberwaldbehrungen in 1747 . Other places of his activity are Geroda , Ostheim , Ostheim / Rhön , Sondheim , Waltershausen , Wölfershausen .
