from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Ernst Dubois (also: du Bois ) (born January 19, 1805 in Hanover ; † October 12, 1867 there ) was a German tin caster - master and entrepreneur in the 19th century.

Life

Johann Ernst Dubois obtained his championship title in 1830 and in the same year took his citizenship oath to obtain citizenship of the city of Hanover. Two years later he opened his workshop in Marktstrasse in 1832 and was appointed court pewter caster in the following year, 1833 .

The later entrepreneur Ludwig August Rieche worked as a journeyman at Dubois.

According to his ad in the address book of the city of Hanover , du Bois launched in Seilwinderstraße since 1847 , now "apparently as a pewter factory "

"Warehouse of all kinds of pewter goods, own manufacture , wholesaling and detailed at the cheapest prices."

The manufacturer had his greatest success with toys made of tin for boys and girls .

In 1867, the year Dubois died, his son Johann Ernst Konrad Dubois (born April 15, 1844 in Hanover; death dates could not yet be determined) took over his father's “metal goods factory”.

The last time the company was listed in the address book of the city of Hanover was in the Weimar Republic - in 1921, the beginning of German hyperinflation .
