Ludwig August Smell

Ludwig August Rieche (born October 10, 1839 in Sarstedt , † February 28, 1893 in Hanover ) was a German pewter - master and entrepreneur in the 19th century.

Life

Ludwig August Rieche completed an apprenticeship with Georg Friedrich Harnisch , who later became the head of the tin foundry office of the city of Hanover. Then Rieche worked as a journeyman for the court pewter and pewter manufacturer Johann Ernst Dubois .

Entitled as Zinngießer- champion Ludwig August smell acquired in 1866, the civil rights of the city of Hanover and opened his own Zinngießerwerkstatt in the allegedly still existing buildings in the Heiligerstraße 6, on the corner of former street Spreenswinkel . Smell became famous for his

"In engraving , casting and painting equally outstanding figures from many epochs of Hanover as well as world history,"

for example from the Roman Empire or the Aztec Empire .

The children's toys had an educational character and, thanks to their small format, were suitable for depicting populous scenes, especially for re-enacting historical battles in large dioramas or in large panoramas .

After a son of Rieche joined the company, it operated as August Rieche und Sohn until 1903 .
