Johann Georg Neuburg (politician)
Johann Georg Neuburg (born October 15, 1795 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 17, 1866 there ) was a German politician.
Neuburg was a son of the doctor Johann Georg Neuburg (1757-1830) and his wife Marianne Margaretha Melber (1772-1797), a granddaughter of Johann Wolfgang Textors and cousin of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe .
Neuburg studied law and graduated with a doctorate in law. jur. from. He became a judge of appeal in Frankfurt. For decades he was one of the leading politicians in the Free City of Frankfurt . From 1832 he was a senator , in 1843 he was the junior mayor and in 1844 he became a jury. He held the office of senior mayor five times : in 1852, 1854, 1856, 1858 and 1862. His brother-in-law was the city architect Johann Friedrich Christian Hess .
In 1866, shortly after the Free City was occupied by the Prussian army on July 17, 1866, he committed suicide.
