Johann Georg Prunner (* 1652 , † 6. May 1701 in Vienna ) was an Austrian master stonemason and sculptor of the Baroque .

Life

Johann Georg's place of birth is not known, but he was trained as a stonemason in the Viennese building works . The Viennese stonemason records document ... on February 17th, 1675 Jörg Prunner of Vienna became a brother and learned from master Franz Hieß . He presented his masterpiece on May 11, 1682, and was fined 15 Reichstaler for various defects .

Teacher

His first apprentices came from the Kaisersteinbrucher quarter shop , Mathias Glatz came from Sommerein , whom he acquitted on August 1, 1688 after 5 years of apprenticeship as a journeyman. On December 27, 1685, he took Sebastian Regondi from the imperial quarry on Leythaberg . The only son of Ambrosius Regondi , the long-time judge there, has since died. Acquittal on January 14, 1691.

On July 16, 1687 he was granted the citizenship of Vienna.

On April 12, 1688 he signed the will of the cathedral builder Matthias Knox alongside Veith Steinböck . Master Knox had been the teacher of the boy Thomas Haresleben since 1688 , after his death Master Prunner took over. Acquittal on May 11, 1693.

He wrote his will on April 26th, 1701, a few passages from it .. my dead body .. in St. Stephans I hope to be honestly buried at the great church gate without being too crowded .. my married son Anthoni Pruner for his fatherly legitima .. 1,000 Gulden.

What would still be left of my small fortune .. my beloved hostess Maria Magdalena.

In the death record of May 6th, 1701 you can read .. Hans Georg Brunner at Dorr und Lunglsucht is 49 years old . His epitaph is on the west facade of St. Stephen's Cathedral .

Son Anton joined the Benedictine order in Altenburg . In the "Reithhandler report" of December 15, 1705 that has been preserved , it can be seen ... that the prelate Raymundus Regondi requested the payment of such 1,000 guilders.

Widow Maria Magdalena Prunner

The widow Maria Magdalena married on September 18, 1701 in St. Stephen's Cathedral Thomas Haresleben, once the apprentice of her deceased husband. One of the witnesses was Veith Steinböck, acting cathedral builder.
