Sebastian Regondi (Sebastian Christian Paul Regundi, * around 1664 in Kaisersteinbruch , Western Hungary , today Burgenland ; † 22. November 1717 ) was an Italian master stonemason and sculptor of the Baroque .

Sebastian was the only son of the master stonemason and judge Ambrosius Regondi and Angela. She was around 40 years old when he was born, so " adoption " is also possible. There is no information about this.

Apprenticeship in the Vienna Dombauhauhütte

From the brotherhood book of the Wiener Dombauhütte in St. Stephan in Vienna we learn of Sebastian's assignment on December 27, 1685 by master stonemason Johann Georg Prunner . The main guarantor was the Lower Austrian government adjunct Balthasar Christoph Sacher. Sebastian's father Ambrosius died in 1681. The teacher worked on a fountain for Klosterneuburg Abbey . The acquittal took place on January 14, 1691.

Life

Marriage in St. Stephen's Cathedral in 1698

Sebastian Regondi, master stonemason in the imperial quarry, married Anna Christina Mädlin, daughter of master potter Simon Madle , on July 15, 1698 in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna . Witnesses were Giovanni Battista Passerini and Johann Georg Haresleben . In 1699 the couple inherited two stone quarries from their mother Angela, who died on January 14th of this year.

Judicial office

Regondi became a judge in 1708, succeeding his best man Passerini, and held office until 1711. His co-masters in these years were Johann Georg Haresleben , Elias Hügel , Ambrosius Hutter, Johann Baptist Kral , Johann Paul Schilck and Johann Wieser .

On August 14, 1708, under Abbot Gerhard Weixelberger, a branch office was set up in Kaisersteinbruch to stop the border smuggling between Austria and Hungary.

His stonemason's mark is chiseled on the Kaisersteinbruch local stone by the sculptor Alexandru Ciutureanu, beginning on the left, next to Elias Hügel, Johann Georg Haresleben , Johann Paul Schilck and Friedrich Sacrificial Cow .
