Johann Heinrich Friedrich von Spaen

Johann Heinrich von Spaen (* 1705 ; † January 27, 1762 in Zerbst ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the cuirassier regiment No. 12 .

Life

origin

His parents were the Prussian major general Alexander Bernhard von Spaen (1669–1743) and his wife Johanna, née von Laer (1679–1705).

Military career

At the age of 17, Spaen joined the “Dockum” dragoon regiment and in 1727 became an adjutant to General Dockum . He was a lieutenant when the regiment took part in the Rhine campaign in 1734. On March 15, 1739 he was promoted to captain . On August 23, 1745 he became major , on September 17, 1754 lieutenant colonel . In 1756 Spaen became commander of the dragoon regiment and in 1757 a colonel . Already in August 1758 he was appointed major general and in March 1759 he took over the cuirassier regiment "Kyau". For 1762 he applied for his release, which he received with a pension . He retired to Zerbst, where he died unmarried on January 27, 1762.

He had participated in the battle of Chotusitz during the First Silesian War and fought near Kesselsdorf during the Second Silesian War . In the Seven Years' War he fought in Groß-Jägersdorf , Zorndorf , Kay , Kunersdorf , Liegnitz and Torgau .

He was wounded in Kunersdorf and was able to drive the Swedes from Boitzenburg on October 15, 1758 .
