Johann Heinrich von Grape

Johann Heinrich von Grape (* 1696 ; † after 1758) was a Prussian officer and regiment chief and heir to Carwitz .

Life

He was a member of the Pomeranian noble family of Grape . His parents were Siegmund von Grape (1650-1729) and his wife Barbara Katharina von Wobeser .

As early as 1708 he entered Prussian service and came to the “von Loeben” regiment . There he became an ensign in 1718 . Then he switched to the "Golz" regiment . There he became captain in 1732 . In March 1740 he became a second captain, but on June 27, 1740 he was transferred to the newly established "Prince Heinrich" regiment. On March 22, 1743 he was promoted to colonel . On January 7, 1746, he moved as a colonel and chief to Garrison Regiment No. IV , which he led until December 1758. At the beginning of the Seven Years' War he took part in the campaign of Prince Henry's army. The prince appointed the colonel to be in command of the Sonnenstein fortress near Pirna , but withdrew himself in the direction of Dresden before the advancing Austrians . The fortress had to surrender on September 5, 1758.

A little later he asked for his release and died shortly afterwards. He was married to Louise Tugendreich Amalia von Sack from the Blankenfelde house . From the marriage u. a. the son Jakob Ludwig von Grape (1735-1811), who was later President of the Chamber in Poznan .
