Johann Jacob Rietmann

Johann Jacob Rietmann (born October 13, 1815 in St. Gallen ; † April 4, 1867 in Lichtensteig ) was a Swiss theologian and writer .

Life

Born as the son of the ox farmer and later police woman, Rietmann studied Protestant theology in Jena . During his studies in 1835 he became a member of the fraternity society on the Burgkeller . After his ordination in 1838 he became a pastor in Nussbaumen and in 1842 in Rapperswil-Jona , before he became a pastor at the penal institution in St. Gallen. In 1847 he took up his pastor's position in Lichtensteig, where he worked until his death. In 1862 he became a member of the church council . He was active as a poet and writer.
