Johann Jacob Haid (also Hayd ; * 1704 in Süßen or Klein-Eislingen near Göppingen , † December 9, 1767 in Augsburg ) was a German engraver, mezzotint artist, portrait painter and publisher. He was the father of Johann Elias Haid .

Haid was probably related to the Haid family of artists from Augsburg. In 1726 he went to Augsburg to train and, in addition to painting battles and animals, mainly learned portraits. Later he turned entirely to copperplate engraving and mezzotint . His teachers were Georg Philipp Rugendas , who had married Anna Barbara Haid from the Augsburg family of artists in 1697, and Johann Elias Ridinger .

He founded his own publishing house in Augsburg and became a successful editor of series of portrait engravings in mezzotint. Anton Graff and Johann Friedrich Bause are among his students .
