In 1766, again on behalf of Specht, he created the frescoes of the parish church of St. Martin in Eglofs and in 1767 of the parish church of St. Johannes Baptist in Thalkirchdorf .

During his traveling years, Johann Jakob Spieler met his first wife, Euphrosina Menschen, and married her on April 21, 1768 in Lindenberg. He had five children with her. After several years of wandering, the family settled in Au until 1781. On October 15, 1781, Johann Jakob Spieler married his second wife, the pharmacist's daughter Maria Theresia Hartmann in Laufenburg. He had eight children with her, all of whom were born in Laufenburg.
