Johann Kayser (theologian)

Johann Baptist Kayser (born October 1, 1826 in Geseke , † August 1, 1895 in Breslau ) was a German theologian and philologist and a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Life

Johann Kayser attended the Theodorianum grammar school in Paderborn . He then studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Bonn and Münster . In Bonn he obtained his doctorate in 1851. phil. In 1852 he was ordained a priest in Paderborn. After further studies in Breslau , he was professor at the theological faculty in Paderborn from 1854 . In 1869 he became head of the teachers' college in Büren near Paderborn. In 1878 he became provincial school councilor in Danzig and from 1883 cathedral provost in Breslau and honorary professor at the Catholic theological faculty of the university there.

In 1867 Johann Kayser was a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Minden 5 ( Höxter , Warburg ). He was a member of the Free Association parliamentary group in the Reichstag .
