Johann Ludwig Kübel (born September 21, 1684 in Heilbronn ; † September 7, 1753 there ) was Mayor of Heilbronn from 1732 to 1753 .

Life

Johann Ludwig Kübel was the son of the tax administrator of the same name, Johann Ludwig Kübel and Maria Christina Pfeil, both members of very old Heilbronn families. He attended the Heilbronn high school and then studied law at the University of Leipzig . In 1709 he became court master of the son of the Baron von Uritsch in Leipzig. In 1711 he was back in Heilbronn, where he worked as an imperial notary and legal adviser . From 1713 to 1718 he was court advisor to Count Ludwig-Moritz von Löwenstein-Wertheim in Wertheim , from where diplomatic and legal missions took him to the imperial court in Vienna , to the Reichstag in Regensburg and to the Imperial Court of Justice in Wetzlar . On January 2, 1719 he was appointed to the small, inner council ( "von den burgern" ) of the city of Heilbronn, where he held various municipal offices. After the death of mayor Adam Christian Wacks , Kübel was elected third mayor by the city's magistrate in September 1732. After the deaths of the mayors Georg Friedrich Pancug and Johann Georg Becht in quick succession, Kübel moved to the position of first mayor in early 1734, which he held for almost 19 years. During Kübel's tenure, the War of the Polish Succession (1733–1738) fell, which did not directly affect the city of Heilbronn, but in the vicinity of which the city suffered from numerous troop movements. In the Austrian War of Succession from 1740 to 1748, the city declared itself neutral with the empire, so that it was largely spared from the war. Kübel died after a short, serious illness on September 7, 1753 and was buried in the cemetery on Weinsberger Strasse .

From 1713 he was married to Philippina Maria Le Petit (1690–1757), a daughter of Wertheim's personal physician François Le Petit. The marriage resulted in four children, two of whom reached adulthood. Son Heinrich Franz Ludwig Kübel became a senator and archivist in Heilbronn. His son Georg Christian Franz Kübel (1757–1834) was Mayor of Heilbronn from 1803 to 1819.
