Johann Peter Pichler
Johann Peter Pichler , also Johann Baptist Pichler (* around May 13, 1765 in Bozen , † March 18, 1807 in Vienna ), was an Austrian mezzotint artist and portrait engraver.
Life
Johann Peter Pichler trained at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the kk drawing and engraving academy founded in 1768 under Jacob Matthias Schmutzer (1733–1811) and Johann Jacobé (1733–1797) and then stayed on behalf of Prince Leopold III . for the execution of several plates for the newly established Chalkographic Society in Dessau for a long time in Dresden . He worked there as a professor of mezzotint . After returning to Vienna, Pichler married a daughter of his master Jacobé. Johann Peter Pichler died March 18, 1807 in Vienna.
