Johann Schmidt (lawyer)

Johann Schmidt (born December 28, 1922 in Trossingen ; † June 14, 2010 ) was a German lawyer.

Career

Schmidt was born as the son of the businessman Johann Schmidt and Maria Schmidt, née Bärwigg. After studying, passing a major state examination in law and doing a doctorate, his professional career began in 1951 in the Bavarian Ministry of Finance before he became a senior public prosecutor at the Bavarian Administrative Court. In 1961 he was elected judge at the Federal Administrative Court. In 1968 he began his career in Munich as Vice President of the Bavarian Administrative Court, which he headed from 1974 to 1987. During his tenure as the highest Bavarian administrative judge, he was Deputy President of the Bavarian Constitutional Court and a member of the administrative board of Bayerischer Rundfunk . After his retirement he worked as chairman of the diet commission of the Bavarian state parliament .

Schmidt emerged as the author of many legal publications. He was married twice and had three sons from his first marriage.
