Johann Staden
Johann Staden (* 1581 ; baptized on July 2, 1581 in Nuremberg ; † 1634 ; buried there on November 15, 1634) was a German organist and composer.
Life
From 1604 he was the royal Brandenburg court organist in Bayreuth and Kulmbach in the service of Margrave Christian . In 1616 at the latest he returned to Nuremberg, where he became organist at the church of the New Hospital that year. In the same year he moved to the Church of St. Lorenz , in 1618 to St. Sebald . His son Sigmund Theophil Staden (1607–1655), who was born in Kulmbach, and his son-in-law David Schedlich (1607–1687) also worked as musicians and composers in Nuremberg. Johann Erasmus Kindermann (1616–1655) was one of his students . In 1619 he was invited by Margrave Christian to Bayreuth again, where he gave a concert with Michael Praetorius , Heinrich Schütz and Samuel Scheidt on the occasion of an organ consecration and examined it.
Honors
The Stadenstrasse, which runs in the eastern Nuremberg districts of Erlenstegen and Schafhof , was named after him.
