Johann Tilemann

Johann Tilemann called Schenck (born March 13, 1696 in Marburg , † May 6, 1773 in Schiffelbach ) was a German university professor .

Life

Johann Tilemann was the son of Philipp Johann Tilemann , theology professor and later rector at the University of Marburg and his second wife Susanne (born January 20, 1656 in Frankfurt am Main ; † March 14, 1696 in Marburg), daughter of the Palatinate resident in Frankfurt am Main Abraham Schellecke.

He studied at the University of Duisburg , Marburg University, Heidelberg University and Franeker University and completed his studies with a doctorate in philosophy and a master's degree in liberal arts .

On September 12, 1720 he was appointed associate professor of ethics and politics at the University of Marburg to relieve his brother-in-law Johann Wilhelm Waldschmiedt (1682–1741); on June 6, 1721 he was appointed full professor. His students included Nikolaus Wilhelm Schröder and Johann Rudolph Anton Piderit .

In the years 1727, 1735, 1741 and 1747 he was Dean of the Philosophical Faculty.

On February 7, 1747 he was released from his official obligations, but remained in his office until March 10, 1747 and left Magdeburg Whitsun 1747 to move to his Gut Schiffelbach and to manage it, which he owned by the Marriage to a daughter or granddaughter of Lieutenant General Johann ufm Keller.
