Johann Vest (also Johann Fest , Johannes Vest ; * around 1630 , † 1694 ) was a German organ builder in Sibiu in Transylvania .

Life

Johann Vest came from Bartfeld (today Bardejov) or Leutschau (today Levoča) in what was then Habsburg Upper Hungary (today Slovakia). In 1668 he built an organ in Eperies (now Prešov). Around 1671 he came to Sibiu in Transylvania and built the largest organ in Hungary. He stayed in town and rebuilt or rebuilt others. The last work is known from 1693.

Its organs are part of the Silesian-Saxon organ building tradition.
