Life

His parents were Justus Krafft († 1704; pharmacist and syndic , church elder in Allendorf an der Werra ) and Agnes, b. Gille. These were in contact with Eva von Buttlar for a time . Agnes was the daughter of the businessman and trader and councilor Christoph Gille († 1685) and Maria. According to tradition, his great-grandson also had ancestors : Schilt Krafft († 1668 or 1705; mayor, church elder in Borken / Niederhessen ) and Conrad Krafft (1577–1665; church senior).

He began studying Protestant theology at the University of Marburg in 1712 and heard, among other things, the lectures of Franz Ulrich Ries , where he became a master of Protestant theology in 1716 , major in the Hessian Scholarship Institute in 1719 , second preacher in 1723 and first preacher in 1727 in the Reformed community of Marburg. In 1738 he was transferred to Hanau as consistorial councilor and preacher . In 1746/47 he became a full professor of Protestant theology in Marburg and Ephorus of the scholarship holders. In 1749 he was appointed Doctor of Evangelical Theology hc.

Around 1766 he involved Johann Rudolph Anton Piderit , who may have taught at the Collegium Carolinium in Kassel, in a conflict. In 1767, Piderit was punished for naturalism and fanaticism with a theological writing ban.

Marriage and offspring

In 1728 Krafft married Christiane Elisabeth b. Scheffer from an old Hessian family. His sons, who also became theologians and moved to the Rhineland, were:
