Johann Graf von Dzialynski (Polish Jan Kanty Działyński ; born September 28, 1829 in Kurnik , † March 30, 1880 ibid) was a manor owner, publicist and politician of the Polish population group in the Prussian province of Posen .

Life

Johann von Dzialynski attended school in Poznan and studied in Berlin. From 1849 to 1851 he served in the Prussian army . He was the owner of the Kurnik estate , which included a castle with an important library, as well as a member of the Poznan Society of Friends of Science and editor of its publications. From 1861 to 1862 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . In 1863 he took part in the Polish January uprising and fled to France after its suppression . He was accused of high treason in absentia in Berlin in 1864 and sentenced to death. In 1869 he was granted an amnesty and was able to return to Kornik from exile in France . In the following years he expanded the Kurniker library, founded a farmers' bank and financed scholarships for Polish students.

In 1869 he was elected to the Reichstag of the North German Confederation in a substitute election in the constituency of Posen 1 (city and district of Posen ) , whereby he also became a member of the customs parliament . His election was declared invalid on April 2, 1870 because of formal procedural errors by the North German Reichstag.
