Johanna Basford

Johanna Basford (born April 15, 1983 in Scotland ) is a British illustrator .

Life

Johanna Basford grew up on her parents' fish farm in Scotland. At school she was introduced to painting by MC Escher . She studied textile design at the University of Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and graduated in 2005 with a portfolio of monochrome silk prints and drawings. Since then she has been working freelance in Aberdeenshire on corporate assignments. Her first personal success is the poster for the program for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010.

Basford published the adult coloring book Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book in 2013 . The book had sold 1.4 million copies in the English-speaking market by mid-2015. Another coloring book, Enchanted Forest, followed in 2015 . Your books are bought as anti-stress and advertised accordingly.
