Johanne Karoline Wilhelmine Bewegungs (née Meyer or Maier, second marriage Uthe-Wal; * May 10, 1777 in Berlin ; † March 11, 1825 in Dresden ; called Minna) was a German poet, writer and editor of the Urania calendar published by Brockhaus .

Life

Johanne Karoline Wilhelmine Bewegungs was the eldest daughter of the secret high tribunal councilor and medicine professor Joh. Christ. Meyer (also Maier) was born. She was a sister-in-law of the German writer and publicist Siegfried August Mahlmann and sister-in-law of the German writer Jean Paul .

Around 1796, at the age of 19, she married the publicist Johann Gottlieb Karl Bewegungs and moved with him to Dessau in the same year and to Leipzig four years later . Karl Walk died in 1805.

In the company of August Apel , Adolph Wagner , Johann Christian August Heinroth , August Mahlmann and Schnorr, she stayed in Leipzig , where she edited the paperback Urania published by Friedrich Arnold Brockhaus for a short time .

She got engaged to Friedrich Arnold Brockhaus , but the engagement was broken. In 1811, after a serious illness, she moved back to her parents in Berlin.

At the end of 1814 she became a teacher and head of the ducal daughter's school in Neustrelitz and then worked as an educator for the two sons of a Herr von Jasmund at the same place. In 1816 she moved to Dresden and married the royal court organ builder Joh. Andreas Uthe.

Johanne Karoline Wilhelminewalk translated and published translations from French ("Letters of Lespinasse ", "Letters, Character and Thoughts of Prince Carl von Ligny by Mad. De Staël-Holstein"). She wrote biographical essays and other articles for various literary journals, including a sensitive necrology for her Leipzig friend J. Aug. Apel in the newspaper for the elegant world in 1816 . She wrote and published poems that, according to her biographer Friedrich Brandes, did not get beyond mediocre in their simplicity. From 1801 to 1813 she was the publisher of the popular paperback for love and friendship.
