Johannes Bauch (born July 16, 1934 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German diplomat . From 1993 to 1999 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Poland .

Career

In 1955, Bauch passed the Abitur at a Freiburg grammar school. He then completed a law degree at the universities of Hamburg , Munich and Freiburg , which he graduated with the first state examination in 1960 . After completing his legal preparatory service, he passed the second state examination in 1964.

Bauch joined the Foreign Service in 1965 and was employed in various functions in the Foreign Office and the Federal Chancellery . In the following years he worked in the diplomatic missions in Stockholm , Tokyo , Geneva and Kabul . From 1986 to 1991 he was envoy at the German embassy in Warsaw , which he headed as ambassador from 1993 to 1999.

Bauch was a member of the board of the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation and from 2003 to 2008 a member of the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” .
