Johannes C. Hoflehner (born September 19, 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director , artistic director and author .

Life

Johannes C. Hoflehner is the son of the actress Hilli Reschl and the director and author Johannes Hoflehner.

Hoflehner studied German and theater studies at the University of Vienna (graduation: Mag.phil. 1987) and was an assistant director and production manager at various theaters, film and radio from 1982–87. In 1987/88 he was the dramaturge at the first Lower Austrian Danube Festival in charge of performance and new forms of theater. From 1987 he began directing radio plays on ORF radio, and from 1989 he staged at theaters in Austria, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg, including numerous world premieres ( Daniel Glattauer , Wolfgang Kindermann , Michal Hvorecký , René Freund , Jürg Laederach , Nadja Bucher and others) and own piece developments.

Hoflehner's writing activities include radio plays and adaptations, several plays and scenarios, the adaptation and new translation of Moliere's Don Juan (first performance 1998, new version 2010) and academic work. Together with Olivier Lendl , he wrote the comedy “Director Serenelli and the show business” (world premiere in 2015 at the Theater Forum Schwechat ).

In the 1990s he trained in systemic theory and therapy with a focus on systemic structure constellation with Matthias Varga von Kibéd and Insa Sparrer in Munich and developed theater system constellations on his own.

In 1999 Hoflehner was given a teaching position at the Institute for Theater Studies at the University of Vienna.

  • 1988–1991: Foundation and theater management of the "Theater Winkelau" in Loosdorf (Lower Austria)
  • 1990–1995: Foundation and management of the independent theater group "THEATERZELLEN WIEN"
  • 1991–1994: Founding and management of “Vladimir und Estragon. Agency for Theater and Audience ”(an agency for independent theater, together with Thomas Licek) in Vienna
  • 2001–2016: Director of the Theater Forum Schwechat in Schwechat (Lower Austria) near Vienna
  • In 2002 Hoflehner founded and until 2016 curated the Schwechat Satirefestival, which takes place annually in the Theater Forum Schwechat in January and February and brings together guest performances in the genres of cabaret, literature, chanson and theater.
