Johannes Caprez

Johannes Caprez (born January 6, 1701 in Trin ; † September 4, 1777 in Ilanz ) was a Swiss Protestant clergyman and pietist .

Life

Johannes Caprez was the son of Christian Caprez and his wife Anna geb. Domenig.

After attending school, he was enrolled at the University of Basel in 1720 together with Daniel Willi , Johannes Buol, Johann Jacob Loretz, Christian Grest, Lucius Pfister, Lucius Gabriel, Jacob Conrad, Joseph Planta, Caspar Riedi and Daniel Sutter ; in the same year he was accepted into the Graubünden parish council. Then he was a teacher in Thusis and in the Palazzo Castelmur .

From 1723 to 1729 he was pastor in Castrisch , from 1729 to 1756 in Trin and from 1756 to 1777 in Ilanz. In 1767 he became dean of the Gray League .

He was considered an advocate of the Moravians in the Graubünden Synod . Johannes Caprez was married to Emilia, daughter of the dean Christoffel von Casutt.
