Johannes Eichhorn

Johannes Eichhorn (born January 8, 1904 in Schmiedeberg; † December 29, 1993 in Seiffen ) was a German local historian , folklorist and nature conservation officer.

Life

Johannes Eichhorn was chairman of the Seiffen local group of the GDR Kulturbund , local commissioner for the preservation of monuments, nature conservation commissioner, member of the district leadership of the Kulturbund and the district active for monument preservation in Marienberg , member of the local committee of the National Front and other social organizations and commissions of the GDR.

Johannes Eichhorn was particularly useful as the initiator and organizer of cultural events in the Seiffen local group, which enriched public life in Seiffen and the Schwartenberg area . Residents and the numerous FDGB and private guests of the central Ore Mountains were brought closer to the cultural heritage. In addition to the preservation of the toy museum in Seiffen, the reconstruction of the former natural stage is also thanks to Johannes Eichhorn.

As a folklorist, Johannes Eichhorn endeavored to maintain and preserve traditional Seiffner folk art, which has gained international fame, especially during the Christmas season. He headed the research, tradition and development group Seiffener Volkskunst .
