Johannes Gruntz-Stoll (born July 21, 1952 in Basel ) is a Swiss educationalist, professor emeritus for general and special education, author and editor of monographs and anthologies as well as journalist and publisher.

Johannes Gruntz-Stoll was born in 1952 as the fourth child of Hans and Marie-Theres Gruntz-Treier in Basel ; After graduating from high school in 1972, he attended the teachers' college and taught from 1974 first in Basel, later in Grub in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden . From 1979 to 1986 he studied pedagogy , pedagogical psychology , philosophy and ethnology in Bern and Tübingen and did his doctorate with a study on socialization processes in children's groups. From 1987 he worked in the training and further education of teachers - at the special education seminar in Biel , at the St. Gallen University of Education and at the Universities of Bern and Innsbruck .

Following his habilitation at the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck with a study on pedagogical antinomies and paradoxical anthropology, Johannes Gruntz-Stoll took over the management of the Institute for Special Pedagogy and Psychology at the University of Basel in 2002 ; After changing the institute from the university to the pedagogical college of the Northwestern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences in 2006, he moved from the institute management to the head of the professorship for special education and psychology. From 2000 to 2010 he held regular lectureships at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Free University of Bozen in Bressanone .
