Johannes Hemleben
Johannes Hemleben (born April 23, 1899 in Hamburg ; † July 2, 1984 ibid) was a German biologist and anthroposophist . He was active as pastor of the Christian community and author.
Life
Hemleben studied natural sciences in Rostock , Frankfurt am Main , Berlin and Erlangen . In 1922 he received his doctorate with a thesis on plant genetics . He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Hereditary Research at the Berlin Agricultural University in Berlin-Dahlem and at the Botanical Institute at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .
In 1924 he became a pastor in the Christian Community , until 1929 in Kassel and then in Hamburg; from 1947 he worked as a so-called "driver" for northern Germany.
With his many book publications and lectures, he was one of the best-known representatives of anthroposophy as well as the Christian community. His rororo picture monographs (on Rudolf Steiner , Ernst Haeckel , Teilhard de Chardin , Charles Darwin , Galileo Galilei , Johannes Kepler and the Evangelist Johannes ) were particularly widespread and are still being reprinted in some cases. In anthroposophical contexts, his “Baumsprüche” (from his first book Symbols of Creation ) are well known.
