Johannes Kuhn (theologian, 1924)

Johannes Kuhn (born April 21, 1924 in Plauen ; † August 4, 2019 in Echterdingen ) was a German Protestant theologian and television pastor on ARD and ZDF .

Life

Kuhn learned the bakery trade and in February 1945, as a voluntary member of the Flieger-HJ, narrowly escaped the air raid on the city of Dresden. His wartime and post-war experience made him want to become a pastor. He studied Protestant theology in Barmen , Göttingen and Basel . After working as a parish and youth pastor in Bremerhaven , he came to Stuttgart in 1961 and worked there as a radio pastor for the Evangelical Church in Württemberg until his retirement in 1989 . Kuhn became known with his morning devotions on the radio of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk , in 1967/68 as quizmaster of the biblical ARD television series Die Reise nach Jerusalem and from 1978 to 1984 on ZDF through the television series Pastor Johannes Kuhn replies , a broadcast format that he replied to Adolf Sommerauer took over. From 1979 to 1997 he was a columnist for Sonntag Aktuell .

Kuhn was the author of short stories, radio plays, non-fiction books, radio features, television film scripts and wrote numerous journalistic works.

He was married to Henriette Kuhn. The couple had four children and lived in Leinfelden until 2018 .

Awards

In 1989 Kuhn received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and in 1997 the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg .
