Johannes Michael Budorensis

Johannes Michael Budorensis or Johannes Michael , Johann Michael or Johannes Michael from Büderich (* 15th century in Büderich ; † after 1514 ) was a German scholar , astronomer and editor . He worked in Venice between 1499 and 1514 .

Little is known about his origins and training. Before he worked in Venice, he was active in Rome and Krakow . In Italy he may have met Domenico Maria da Novara . He described himself as a pupil of Johannes Lucilius , who worked for the Erhard Ratdolts publishing house in Venice from 1482 and u. a. Edited works of the Regiomontanus . Johannes Michael Budorensis wrote comments on Abraham Zacuto's almanac perpetuum , which he published in Venice in 1499 and 1502. The work consists of so-called planet tables, with which the positions of the planets could be calculated in advance. In addition, he was in contact with Georg Tannstetter and helped in Vienna in 1514 with the publication of Peuerbach's Tabulae Eclypsiũ and Regiomontanus Tabula primi mobilis .
