Johannes Than
Johannes Martin Than (born December 14, 1917 in Dresden ; † January 9, 1943 ibid), also called "Hans", was a German football player.
Career
societies
From 1936 to 1939, Than played as a fast right and left winger for Guts Muts Dresden in the Gauliga Sachsen , in one of 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform highest division in the German Reich , point games. In the first two seasons, the relegation to the Dresden district class could be avoided with a point ahead of the newcomer Riesaer SV or due to the better goal quotient compared to SpVgg 1899 Leipzig-Lindenau .
The 1939/40 season he played in the Gauliga Mittelrhein for Mülheimer SV 06 , with which he won the championship.
Selection team
In 1936 and 1937 he came to four missions in the Gauwahlmannschaft Saxony in the competition for the Reichsbund Cup . He played his first game for Saxony in the replay of the final against the district selection team Southwest , which was won 9-0. With his only goal on December 20, 1936, he ensured the 1-0 quarter-final victory over the Lower Saxony selection and made it to the semi-finals, in which he - as well as on February 27, 1937 in the final, lost 1: 2 against the Gau selection team Lower Rhine - was not used.
With the beginning of the Second World War he was drafted into military service; he died in Dresden in 1943.
