Johannes Werner (pastor, 1864)

Johannes Werner (born March 27, 1864 in Werl , † October 4, 1914 in Letmathe ) was a Catholic clergyman.

Life

Werner was born the son of a farmer. He passed his Abitur in Warburg in 1883 and then studied Catholic theology in Münster , Munich and Paderborn . In 1887 he was ordained a priest . After working as a cooperator in Reiste , he became a chaplain in Dortmund in 1889 .

In 1890 he went to Magdeburg-Buckau as vicar , became parish administrator in 1894 and pastor that same year. Following on from the work of his predecessor, Theodor Franz Deilmann, he built up Catholic structures in the Protestant region. The construction of the Sankt-Norbert-Kirche and the sister house Sankt Elisabeth in Magdeburg-Buckau as well as the Sankt-Johann-Baptist-Kirche in Salbke went back to his initiative . Through his work, the pastoral outpost Magdeburg-Buckau became a parish on June 10, 1894 .

From 1911 until his death he was pastor in Letmathe near Iserlohn . He died of consumption in 1914 .
