The Johannestal is a side valley of the Riss valley in the Karwendel . It runs roughly from south to north between the Falkengruppe in the east and the eastern foothills of the northern Karwendel range in the west.

The valley is traversed by the Johannesbach before it flows into the Rissbach at the gorge-like lower end of the valley . The Kleine Ahornboden is located at the head of the valley .

Both the Karwendelhaus and the Falkenhütte can be reached via the Kleiner Ahornboden .

Tour possibilities

The valley is closed to public traffic. Important mountain bike tours in the Karwendel lead through the valley to the Karwendelhaus and the Falkenhütte.
