The John Naisbitt University ( Serbian: Универзитет Џон Незбит), Univerzitet Megatrend until 2015 , is a private university in Belgrade . With around 3500 students, it is the fourth largest private university in Serbia. It was founded in 1989.

history

The history of John Naisbitt University begins with the 1989 Business School , from which the other institutions of today's university were founded. In 1991 the university started a project for management studies together with the technical faculty in Bor . This project, which was the first of this type in Southeastern Europe, was financially supported by the European TEMPUS program and was specifically intended for the development of business administration courses. The success resulted in an expansion of the university's range of education, as the former educational system of Yugoslavia lacked institutions that could provide this type of study program. The Faculty of Economics was also the first in Southeastern Europe.

In 1997, a collaboration was established with the Grenoble École de Management in France , which allowed students to exchange students from both universities and to continue their studies at the respective university.

Similar university partnerships exist with universities and colleges in Germany , Great Britain , Italy , Russia , Ukraine and China .

Scandals

In 2014, the correctness of the doctoral procedure of the Serbian politician Nebojša Stefanović was questioned, with Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić demonstratively defending his Interior Minister from the critics. It turned out that the doctoral supervisor and owner of the Mića Jovanović University of Applied Sciences had made a lie about his own doctorate, which he allegedly had obtained at the London School of Economics . Jovanović had to resign as rector of the university on June 14, 2014. As a result, the university changed its name in 2015.
