John Naisbitt

John Naisbitt (born January 15, 1929 in Salt Lake City , Utah , United States ; † April 8, 2021 in Velden am Wörther See , Carinthia , Austria ) was an American author focusing on trend and future research . The best-known publication by Naisbitt is his first work Megatrends , which dominated the bestseller lists for months after its publication in 1982 and of which 14 million copies were sold in 57 countries. In it he predicted a transition from industry- on the information society and explained globalization .

Life

Naisbitt grew up in Glenwood, Utah, USA. He studied political science at Harvard , Cornell University and the University of Utah . Naisbitt was later Deputy Secretary of Education under John F. Kennedy and Special Assistant to Lyndon B. Johnson . He was also an entrepreneur and worked for IBM and Eastman Kodak . From 1982 he was a speaker in the spotlight of international events. In addition to his lectures around the world, most of his work focused on an analysis of the economic development of the People's Republic of China .

John Naisbitt was chairman of the Naisbitt China Institute in Tianjin , professor at Nankai University and Tianjin University of Finances and Economics, and board member of Asia Business School Tianjin .

The private university Univerzited Megatrend in Belgrade was renamed John Naisbitt University after him in 2015 after controversy surrounding the university. In 2017 it was renamed back to Univerzited Megatrend .

John Naisbitt lived with his Austrian wife Doris, whom he married in 2000, in Vienna and Tianjin .
