John Abraham Antonio (* 6. May 1978 in Timmonsville , South Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of Outside linebackers . In his career he played for the New York Jets , Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Abraham went to high school in Lamar , South Carolina . He later went to the University of South Carolina . Here he scored 23.5 sacks for the college football team in four years .

NFL

New York Jets

Abraham was selected 13th in the first round by the New York Jets in the 2000 NFL Draft . In his first season, he scored 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks in just six games before sustaining an injury. A season later, he scored 58 tackles and 13 sacks and was elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time . Also in the 2002 season he managed to be elected to the Pro Bowl. In 2003 he suffered another injury after seven match days. In 2004 he was elected to the Pro Bowl for the third time. Overall, he scored 53.5 sacks for the Jets in six seasons.

Atlanta Falcons

For the 2006 season , Abraham was traded to the Atlanta Falcons for a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. In the 2008 season he set a personal best with 16.5 sacks. On December 12, 2010, he exceeded the 100 mark in sacks in the game against the Carolina Panthers . He became the 25th player to reach this mark. This season he was also elected to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time. On June 21, 2012, he signed a three-year contract with the Falcons, on March 1, 2013, he was released.

Arizona Cardinals

On July 25, 2013, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals . In his first season for the Cardinals, he scored 11.5 sacks and was re-elected to the Pro Bowl. In his second season he only played one game for Cardinals due to an injury. After the season he ended his career.

Abraham played 192 games in 15 seasons. He scored 545 tackles and 133.5 sacks. He is the 12th player in the NFL with the most sacks. He holds the New York Jets franchise record for most sacks in one game (4) along with Joe Klecko and Mark Gastineau . He also holds the Atlanta Falcons franchise records for most sacks ever (68.5) and most forced fumbles (24).
