John Anderson (singer)
John Anderson (born December 13, 1954 in Orlando , Orange County , Florida ) is an American country singer.
Life
Anderson moved to his sister Donna in Nashville in 1971 after finishing school . He took on all kinds of odd jobs and performed as a duo with Donna. Just three years later he released his first singles on the small label "Ace Of Hearts". In 1977 he moved to Warner Brothers .
After a few unsuccessful titles, he had his first top 20 hit, Your Lying Blue Eyes , in 1979 . In 1959 he made it into the top 10 in 1980. The following year he had several top 10 hits, including a. by written by the American songwriter and singer Billy Joe Shaver dating I am Just An Old Chunk Of Coal (4th place). A year later, his Wild And Blue from the album of the same name even moved up to number one on the country charts. The final breakthrough came in 1983 with the megahit Swingin ' , another release from the album Wild And Blue , which sold more than a million times, so that the album reached gold status and was also listed in the pop hit parade.
In 1983 he made it to the top of the country charts with the single Black Sheep from the album All The People Are Talking . The record sales of the three other albums at Warner stagnated and Anderson finally switched to MCA in 1987 . The three albums released there were also not a great success. It wasn't until 1992 that he suddenly had another number 1 hit with Straight Tequila Night , a single from his first album Seminole Wind on the then newly founded label BNA. From the double-platinum album, three more releases made it into the charts: When It Comes To You (3rd place), a song written by Mark Knopfler , who also contributed to the album, and Seminole Wind (3rd place) 2) and Let Go Of The Stone (7th place).
In 1993 the also very successful album Solid Ground followed , which was awarded gold. The single Money In The Bank reached the top of the country charts. The compilation Greatest Hits was also awarded gold. As a result, Anderson had to be satisfied with medium to minor successes, which in turn led to a change of record company. In 1997 he signed with Mercury Records and brought out the album Takin 'The Country Back , which, however, did not attract much attention. After another move to Sony Music in 1999, the critically acclaimed album Nobody's Got It All was released , which again did not get the desired commercial response. In 2002 he finally founded his own label John Anderson Records under the patronage of Audium Records and published the Anthology , which contains 30 newly recorded hits from his almost 25-year career.
Anderson was in 2006 a member of the Music Mafia , a group of musicians and songwriters in Nashville, and the following year he presented the album Easy Money that of John Rich , one of the founding fathers of the MuzikMafia and part of the country duo Big & Rich was produced . Anderson, influenced by Merle Haggard , Lefty Frizzell and George Jones , was one of the first "New Traditionalists" to pave the way for a new generation of country musicians like George Strait and Dwight Yoakam .
