John Baptist Pitaval
John Baptist Pitaval (born February 10, 1858 in Saint-Genis-Terrenoire , France , † May 23, 1928 ) was Archbishop of Santa Fe .
Life
John Baptist Pitaval studied Catholic theology in Lyon and came to the USA in 1881 . He received on 24 December 1881 by the bishop of Denver , Joseph Projectus Machebeuf , the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On May 14, 1902, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the titular bishop of Sora and it ordered the auxiliary bishop in Santa Fe. The Archbishop of Santa Fe, Peter Bourgade , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Denver, Nicholas Chrysostom Matz , and the Bishop of Tucson , Henry Regis Granjon .
On February 1, 1909, Pope Pius X appointed him Archbishop of Santa Fe. John Baptist Pitaval resigned as Archbishop of Santa Fe on July 29, 1918, and was named Titular Archbishop of Amida .
