John Bruno

John Bruno (* 20th century) is an American film technician and specialist in visual effects in film.

Career

1990 he won together with Hoyt Yeatman , Dennis Muren and Dennis Skotak in the category " Best Visual Effects " an Oscar for underwater thriller Abyss - abyss of death , in which James Cameron directed. Bruno first appeared in the film industry in 1971. In the animated film Shinbone Alley , he worked as an assistant animator. For the film adaptation of the Batman comics created by Bob Kane, Batman 's Return , directed by Tim Burton , Bruno was nominated again for an Oscar in 1993 alongside Michael L. Fink , Craig Barron and Dennis Skotak . The film also received a BAFTA Award nomination in the Specials Effects category . Another Oscar nomination came for Bruno and his colleagues Pamela Easley, Neil Krepela and John Richardson in 1994 for the action and adventure film Cliffhanger - Only the Strong Survive . In 1995 Bruno was nominated again for an Oscar nomination for James Cameron's action film True Lies , along with Thomas L. Fisher, Jacques Stroweis and Patrick McClung . With this film Bruno won the Saturn Award and was also nominated for the BAFTA Award. In the film itself, Bruno was seen in a small role as a guard. In 1996 he worked as a director on the short film T2 3-D: Battle Across Time . In 1999 Bruno made his debut as a film director with Virus - Schiff without Return .

Together with James Cameron and Chuck Comisky, Bruno was responsible for the production of the 2003 documentary The Spirits of the Titanic . The film received a BFCA nomination for “Best Picture”. In 2006 Bruno received the Satellite Award for the comic-action film adaptation X-Men: The Last Resistance and in 2007 a nomination for the Saturn Award .
