John Eatwell, Baron Eatwell

John Leonard Eatwell, Baron Eatwell (born February 2, 1945 ) is a British economist and current President of Queens' College (Cambridge) where he studied from 1964 to 1967.

education

Eatwell graduated from Queens' College, University of Cambridge with a BA and then from Harvard University . He did his PhD there and then went back to Queens' College.

life and career

Eatwell was at the University of Cambridge a . a. Finance Policy Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Economics: he was a research fellow at Trinity College and was elected President of Queens' College in 1996. He also taught economics at the New School for Social Research in New York City in the 1980s and 1990s. He is a member of various scientific societies. He was Neil Kinnock's chief financial advisor from 1985 to 1992 .

He was promoted to Life Peer as Baron Eatwell , of Stratton St Margaret in the County of Wiltshire, and has served in the House of Lords for the Labor Party ever since . In 2010 he was appointed by Ed Miliband as Labor Opposition spokesman for the budget.

Eatwell is a former director of the British Library , a director of the Royal Opera House, and economic advisor to the Chartered Management Institute .

In July 2006, Eatwell married Suzi Digby (* 1958), the founder of The Voices Foundation , a music education charity.
