John Hopkins (* 1974 in London ) is a British actor . He is best known for his role as Sergeant Dan Scott, which he had intermittently in the British crime series Inspector Barnaby (Midsomer Murders).

Life

Hopkins was born in London in 1974. He studied at the University of Leeds from 1993 to 1996 , where he completed his undergraduate studies . During his studies he joined the Leeds University Union theater company and starred in several plays, such as: B. in Equus , The Importance of Being Earnest (German: Being serious is everything) and The Crucible (German: witch hunt). For his acting performance in A Short Play about Sex and Death , John Hopkins received the Student-Actor Award. After graduating, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company .

In 2004 he played the lead role in the British science fiction thriller Experiment . In the same year he appeared as a replacement for Sergeant Gavin Troy (Daniel Casey) as Sergeant Dan Scott on the side of Inspector Barnaby in the crime series of the same name. After 14 episodes, he left the series. He then starred in Family Affairs and the independent film Grand Junction .

In 2007 John Hopkins had a role on the BBC series Robin Hood . In 2010 he made a guest appearance on the British series Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Identity .
