John Joseph Swint

John Joseph Swint (born December 15, 1879 in Pickens , West Virginia , United States , † November 23, 1962 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Wheeling .

Life

John Joseph Swint received the sacrament of ordination for the Diocese of Wheeling on June 23, 1904 .

On February 22, 1922, Pope Pius XI appointed him . as titular bishop of Sura and auxiliary bishop in Wheeling. The Archbishop of Baltimore , Michael Joseph Curley , donated him episcopal ordination on May 11 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Richmond , Denis Joseph O'Connell , and the Bishop of Pittsburgh , Hugh Charles Boyle .

After the Bishop of Wheeling, Patrick James Donahue , died on October 4, 1922, Pius XI appointed. Swint on December 11th of the same year as his successor.

On June 14, 1929 Pius XI appointed him. to the papal assistant throne . Pope Pius XII awarded him the personal title of Archbishop on March 12, 1954 .
