John Michael (born March 20, 1974 in Cyprus as Yannis Michail ) is a Cypriot- Greek darts player .

Career

Michael achieved his first major success in 2000 when he won the Greek darts championship for the first time. From 2003 he took part in tournaments of the BDO and the WDF . His first tournament victory came in 2004 at the Malta Open, which he won in 2007 and 2012. He also won the Greek Open and the Cyprus Open several times in the following years.

In 2009 he was able to win the Cyprus Open, the Hellenikon Open and the Mediterranean Cup, after which he switched to the PDC for the first time . However, since he subsequently remained relatively unsuccessful, he decided in 2012 to switch back to the BDO.

In 2013 he qualified for the BDO World Darts Championship, in which he was eliminated in the first round against Madars Razma from Latvia 2-3. In 2014 he took part in the PDC World Darts Championship 2015 , in which he was defeated by Ian White in the first round after defeating Jani Haavisto in the preliminary round . In 2015 he switched back to the PDC.

In the following year he also qualified for the World Championship, at the PDC World Darts Championship 2016 he was eliminated again in the first round, this time against James Wade . In 2016 he qualified for three tournaments on the European Tour, making it to the second round of the European Darts Open, where he lost to Mensur Suljović . He also represented Greece in 2016 , together with Ioannis Selachoglou , at the World Cup of Darts for the first time .

At the PDC World Darts Championship 2017 he was eliminated again in the first round after losing 2: 3 after a 2-0 lead against Alan Norris .
