John Micklethwait

Richard John Micklethwait CBE (born August 11, 1962 ) is an English journalist . He has been editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News since February 2015 . Before that he was editor-in-chief at The Economist from 2006 to 2015.

Life

Micklethwait graduated from Ampleforth College (an independent school ) and studied history at Magdalen College, Oxford . He worked for Chase Manhattan Bank for two years before joining the Economist in 1987 . There he was editor in the business section for four years, later for the United States, founded the Los Angeles office , where he worked from 1990 to 1993, and headed the New York office for two years .

Micklethwait was promoted to Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2016 for his services to journalism and business .
